The Downtown Puerto Vallarta boardwalk is one of those places where there’s always something happening, yet somehow it never feels rushed.
Ocean views stretch beside you while sculptures, local artists, musicians, vendors, and street performers create an energy that feels distinctly Puerto Vallarta. One moment you’re stopping to admire the famous bronze statues and public art installations…then a few steps later you’re watching an impromptu performance or browsing handmade goods from local artisans.
And honestly?
Part of the fun is having no agenda at all.
Some of our favorite moments happened simply strolling along the waterfront, taking in the scenery, stopping for photos, and soaking up the atmosphere around us.
The views of Banderas Bay are beautiful during the day, especially with the mountains surrounding the city in the background. And there’s something about the combination of ocean breeze, palm trees, and the lively energy of the boardwalk that instantly puts you in vacation mode.
Stop into the beach front bars/restaurants and have a bite to eat and a cocktail with your feet in the water in some places.
The people-watching alone is worth the walk.
Wear comfortable shoes and leave extra time. The Malecón has a way of turning a “quick walk” into several hours.
