South Africa isn’t just a destination — it’s an entire world of experiences wrapped into one unforgettable journey. With world-class golf, thrilling wildlife, stunning wine regions, and dramatic landscapes at every turn, this trip had a little bit of everything that makes travel magical.
We are boarding the first leg of our journey to South Africa, with approximately 31 hours of travel ahead before arriving in Cape Town and continuing on to the Garden Route.
This itinerary promises an exceptional blend of world-class golf, renowned wine regions, stunning coastlines, and remarkable wildlife encounters — from whales and sharks along the shore to elephants, lions, and zebras on safari. We look forward to sharing highlights from what is sure to be an unforgettable experience
Cape Town welcomed us with lively energy and gorgeous waterfront streets full of shops, eateries, and ocean breezes. This city embodies the perfect blend of cosmopolitan charm and natural beauty.
After landing in Cape Town, we headed to the famed wine country. South Africa’s vineyards are ripe with rich flavors and iconic landscapes — perfect for sipping world-class wines while soaking in views that challenge the game itself.
From Stellenbosch to Franschhoek, the scenery was breathtaking and the wines were next level — each glass more memorable than the last.
We explored the dramatic coastline, where rugged cliffs meet the Atlantic, offering sweeping ocean views at every turn.
A highlight of the day was visiting Boulders Beach, home to the famous colony of African penguins. Watching these charming birds in their protected natural habitat was a uniquely South African experience and a memorable addition to our journey.
We concluded the day with a refined wine tasting at Steenberg Wine Estate, one of South Africa’s most historic and picturesque vineyards. Surrounded by mountain views and manicured vineyards, we enjoyed exceptional wines that reflect the depth and character of the Cape Winelands.
A perfect balance of coastal exploration and world-class wine — an outstanding beginning to our trip in South Africa.
We stayed the night in the One&Only Hotel. From the moment we arrived at the One&Only Hotel, it was clear this was more than a stay — it was an experience. Nestled in a stunning location, the hotel blends elegant design with the natural beauty of its surroundings, creating a sense of calm, luxury, and indulgence from the very first step.
Our suite was a sanctuary of comfort, with sweeping views that made it impossible not to pause and take it all in.
Dining at One&Only is another level of unforgettable. From signature dishes bursting with flavor every meal felt like a celebration. And the staff? Warm, attentive, and intuitive — always making you feel like the only guest in the world. We also stopped for a drink at the Vista Bar and Lounge, an elegant bar with the most spectacular view of Table Mountain.
Whether you’re seeking relaxation, adventure, or a little bit of both, One&Only delivers an experience that lingers long after you leave — a perfect blend of luxury, lifestyle, and the little moments that turn a trip into a memory of a lifetime.
Day 2 had us on the move, heading toward Arabella, but not before a scenic stop at Erinvale Golf Club. We squeezed in 9 holes on this world-class course, which has proudly hosted the World Cup of Golf and the South African Open. Rolling fairways, dramatic landscapes, and incredible views made every shot a joy — even the “creative” ones!
After a satisfying round, we refueled with a delicious lunch at the club, soaking in the surroundings and reminiscing about our best shots. Then it was onward to Arabella, where check-in was smooth and welcoming, setting the tone for a relaxing evening. We capped off the day with a fantastic dinner, a perfect balance to a day of golf, travel, and beautiful scenery.
18 Holes at Arabella golf course in the morning affording the unique opportunity to experience a perfect blend of luxury and rare natural beauty. The fabled 18-hole, Par 72 Championship course has consistently been ranked in the top 10 courses in South Africa. The 8th hole has been described as one of the most beautiful par 5′s in South Africa and the 18th hole was rated one of the finest finishing holes in the country.
After golf, we departed for the town of Gansbaai. This part of the journey brought us to the picturesque seaside town of Hermanus, renowned for its dramatic coastline and world-class whale watching. The harbor setting offered sweeping ocean views and a relaxed coastal atmosphere that perfectly captures the charm of South Africa’s southern shores.
The evening was highlighted by an exceptional dinner at a wonderful family-owned restaurant in town. The warm hospitality, thoughtfully prepared cuisine, and beautifully paired local wines made for a truly memorable experience. Dining in Hermanus felt both intimate and authentic — a reminder that some of the most special travel moments are found in small towns with big heart.
Another remarkable day along South Africa’s stunning coastline.
Day five began with breathtaking views at Pinnacle Point Golf Club, dramatically set along the cliffs overlooking the Indian Ocean. This award-winning course is renowned for offering some of the most spectacular coastal golf vistas in the world, with tee boxes perched high above the crashing waves below.
From the clubhouse terrace, we enjoyed sweeping panoramic views of the course and coastline — watching players take on the exhilarating challenge of the layout and witnessing the humbling finish along the 18th hole. The rugged cliffs and endless ocean created a remarkable natural backdrop, making the entire experience both visually stunning and unforgettable.
We then transitioned from fairways to the African bush as we arrived at Gondwana Game Reserve for our first safari experience.
Today was a wildlife dream come true and not on the “official” itinerary!
We experienced our first game drive at Gondwana Game Reserve, where the dramatic beauty of Africa’s bush revealed itself in spectacular fashion. Elephants strolling in the distance, zebras grazing peacefully, and then… Bonnie the elephant decided to join us FOR LUNCH. Nothing prepares you for an elephant casually ambling up to your table. Just unforgettable.
This is the true magic of South Africa — untamed beauty and up-close wildlife encounters woven right into the adventure.
We’re still at Gondwana, and the magic of the wild continues to captivate. Lions lazed and cubs played in the golden light, giraffes moved gracefully between acacia trees, elephants wandered with quiet majesty — every game drive felt like stepping into a live documentary, with nature directing every scene.
As the afternoon gave way to evening, we headed into the bush for sunset. The sky ignited in shades of amber and rose, the air carrying the soft rustle of wildlife around us. With refreshing drinks in hand, we soaked it all in — the warmth of the fading sun, the distant calls of birds, the pulse of Africa itself. Moments like these remind you why Gondwana isn’t just a destination; it’s an experience that lingers in your senses long after you leave.
After breakfast we said goodbye to the bush and continued onto South Africa’s Garden Route, headed to Knysna. We arrived at Simola Golf Resort, located outside of George. The courses were spectacular — cliffside tees, majestic drops, and sweeping ocean views that you have to see to believe.
And yes — we discovered a new type of golf hazard:
A mischievous baboon who ransacked our cart and helped himself to a bottle of water. Safari meets golf prank! (Photos to follow…)
We capped the day with dinner at our hosts home, looking out across the course, the mountains, and the Indian Ocean — truly an evening to remember.
Today was a hole-in-one kind of day! We kicked things off at the stunning Pezula Golf Course, where rolling fairways meet jaw-dropping views — every swing came with a side of scenery that could easily distract even the most focused golfer. Whether it was a perfect drive or a lucky putt, laughter and friendly competition filled the course.
As the sun began its slow descent, we traded clubs for cocktails and boarded a dinner cruise on the Knysna Lagoon. Gliding across the shimmering waters, we soaked in the golden sunset reflecting off the lagoon, the gentle breeze carrying the promise of a perfect evening. Delicious bites, sparkling drinks, and the camaraderie of great friends made it a night to remember. Between the laughter, the clinking glasses, and the magical views, it was one of those days that felt like pure liquid joy — and we didn’t want it to end!
Today, we made our way to Fancourt Golf Resort and took on the legendary Fancourt Golf Estate, and let’s just say the Outeniqua Course did not disappoint. Eighteen holes of lush fairways, challenging bunkers, and breathtaking views kept us on our toes (and sometimes laughing at our own “creative” shots).
Each hole was an adventure — from perfect drives to those “let’s pretend that never happened” putts — and the camaraderie on the course made every moment more memorable. The beauty of Fancourt wasn’t just in the course itself but in the way it brought friends together, shared laughs echoing across the greens, and a little friendly competition that kept spirits high all day.
By the 18th hole, whether we had birdies or bogeys, we all agreed: this was golf at its finest — challenging, stunning, and utterly unforgettable.
Back at Fancourt Golf Estate, we took on the Links Course — a masterpiece of rolling fairways, tricky bunkers, and sweeping views that kept every swing exciting. Each hole brought its own challenge, along with plenty of laughter over the “creative” shots that only friends can truly appreciate. Golfing here is as much about the scenery and camaraderie as it is about the score — and today, we were winning in all three!
As the day faded, we traded clubs for an unforgettable evening. A private dinner awaited us, paired with cultural entertainment that brought local traditions to life. Between the gourmet cuisine, mesmerizing performances, and the intimacy of the setting, it was the perfect way to cap off a day of golf, friendship, and pure indulgence.
All good things must come to an end. Today we checked out of Fancourt and made our way to Johannesburg for our flight home, hearts full and cameras bursting with memories.
From sunrise drives across Gondwana’s wild plains to sunset sails on the Knysna Lagoon, and from perfect swings on Fancourt’s legendary courses to evenings filled with culture, laughter, and friendship — every moment was unforgettable. As we board the plane, we carry with us not just souvenirs, but the incredible memories of a lifetime and the joy of an adventure shared with amazing friends.
